Tyres in Leeds

Tyres supplied and fitted, wheel balancing and wheel alignment (tracking) - call us to check your size.

Tyres, wheel balancing and wheel alignment are all part of what we do at NHG Vehicle Care. Give us a call with your tyre size (or registration) and we'll let you know what we can get for you.

Wheel alignment, often called tracking, sets the angles of the wheels so they run true to each other and to the car. If the car pulls to one side on a straight, level road, the steering wheel sits off-centre when you are driving straight, or the tread is wearing more on one edge than the other, the alignment is probably out. Hitting a pothole or a kerb is enough to knock it out, so it is worth checking afterwards and whenever new tyres go on: correct alignment stops new tyres wearing out early and makes the car steer as it should.

Wheel balancing is a different job. It corrects the weight distribution around each wheel and tyre so it spins without vibration; a shake through the steering wheel or the seat at speed usually points to balancing rather than alignment.

Your tyres are checked as part of every MOT and service, and we'll let you know honestly when they need replacing.

Common questions

Tyres questions

How do I know if my wheels need aligning?

The usual signs are uneven wear across the tyre tread, the car pulling to one side on a straight, level road, or a steering wheel that sits off-centre when you are driving straight. Hitting a pothole or kerb can knock the alignment out, so it is worth checking afterwards and when new tyres are fitted.

What is the difference between wheel balancing and wheel alignment?

Balancing corrects the weight distribution around each wheel so it spins without vibration. Alignment (tracking) sets the angles of the wheels so they run true. Vibration at speed points to balancing; pulling to one side or uneven tread wear points to alignment.

Do I need an alignment check with new tyres?

It is worth doing. If the alignment is out, new tyres start wearing unevenly from day one, so correcting it when the tyres are fitted protects the money you have just spent.
